A Welcome Week of Wellbeing

Selwyn Village, 43 Target Street, Point Chevalier

Was held on the 9-12 March 2020

New Zealand Government policy states that health and wellbeing are the greatest wealth we can accrue.  Suggesting that learning more about the many aspects of being healthy, happy and comfortably content is a sound investment.

The Selwyn Wellbeing Week is a fantastic opportunity for older adults to connect with the concept of wellbeing.  The week will provide a bountiful array of information-sharing events that will be engaging, insightful, practical, and maybe even life changing. This year there will be new exhibitors, speakers, and information, for residents, friends, family members, and the community to enjoy.

All went well at  Wellbeing Week

The many aspects of Wellbeing came to the fore at the revamped Selwyn Wellbeing Week & Expo. Giving Selwyn residents, friends and family a wealth of opportunities to learn more about what is relevant and of interest.

Thirty organisations exhibited their particular ‘wellbeing’ product or service at the Expo. Ranging from the likes of The Heart Foundation, Auckland Dementia, Diabetes Auckland and The Stroke Foundation through to Moa Tours, eco products, raw honey and Energy Ice. The event also featured the inaugural Selwyn Wellbeing Quiz that was hotly contested by close to 30 residents.

Selwyn Institute Director Hilda Johnson-Bogaerts the week was a success and provided a great deal of positive feedback and information for future planning. “People are hungry for new information and experiences.  We’re delighted to have provided a forum where people could learn and share their knowledge and experiences related to Wellbeing.  We have an excellent foundation to what we now plan to have as an annual event.”
