The Selwyn Institute Webinar Series

First Ageing and Spirituality Webinar - The Last Stage of Human Growth is Mortality

Developed specifically for health and social services professionals and clergy from across Aotearoa New Zealand who work with older people. The topic for our first Webinar was The Last Stage of Human Growth is Mortality. Selwyn Foundation Director of Spiritual Care, Reverend Caroline Leys and Hospice NZ Clinical Advisor, Professor Rod MacLeod, explored the concept that well engaged mortality strengthens growth – the knowledge of negotiating the personal concept of mortality, that is our life as we know it is finite. If you missed this webinar in October, you can now gain paid-access to the webinar recording, learn more.

Second Ageing and Spirituality Webinar - Spiritual strength: does it matter?

Join us for our second Ageing and Spirituality webinar, Wednesday, 10 February 2021 from 7pm – 9pm where Rev'd Caroline Leys and Prof. Rod MacLeod will discuss the topic ‘Spiritual strength: does it matter? The focus of the discussion will be on older people, although what we discuss will have some relevance for death from mid-life years, but not so much relevance for children and young adults. The discussion will expand on the work Rod referred to in our first webinar (details above). That work for the European Association for Palliative Care is described by Marc Haufe et al from Department of Care Ethics, University Humanistic Studies, Netherlands. Visit our events page for more details and registration.
