Flood relief grants to Ngāti Porou & Ngātiwai

Written by The Selwyn Foundation | 23 March 2026

To support kaumātua affected by the devastating flooding that affected communities in Northland and the East Cape earlier this year, The Selwyn Foundation has donated grants of $100,000 each to Ngātiwai and Ngāti Porou. We hope that our koha will help in the ongoing recovery efforts and go some way to lifting the spirits of those impacted.

The Selwyn Foundation Chief Executive Denise Cosgrove is pictured at the grant presentation last week at Selwyn Village with Ngātiwai Trust Board Chair, Aperahama Kerepeti-Edwards, and members of the Ngātiwai Trust Board and Kaimahi. Also pictured are (3rd from left) Selwyn Foundation Board member, Right Reverend Bishop Te Kitohi Pikaahu, Anglican Bishop of Te Tai Tokerau, and (3rd from right) Selwyn Foundation Kaihautū Mātua / General Manager - Tangata Whenua Strategy, Anthony Wilson.

A similar presentation was also made last week to Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou in Gisborne. Pictured are Bishop Te Kitohi Pikaahu and Anthony Wilson (front row) with Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Porou Board Chair, Patrick Tangaere, (front row, right) and members of Te Rūnanganui.
