Innovators in health and community care.

Inviga and The Selwyn Foundation – bring together technology and experience

Inviga is an innovative 50/50 joint venture between The Selwyn Foundation and the leading Australian health technology and community service provider, Feros Care Limited.

In a world where community-based care needs to be based on value for money and exceptional service, Inviga puts technology to work for the people we support. Feros Care Ltd has 25 years’ experience in home-based and community care for older people, and led the telehealthcare revolution in Australia.

The Selwyn Foundation has provided homes, services and care for older New Zealanders for over 60 years, and uses a holistic model of care that supports the overall wellness of the individual, and not just their clinical care.

By blending Feros’ expertise in smart technologies with Selwyn’s experience in providing elder support, Inviga will set new standards in community-based care, which is predicted to grow significantly over the next 10-15 years. The Selwyn Foundation and Feros carried out a 6 month Telehealthcare pilot in 2015, and the new company, ‘Inviga’ (from “Invigorate”) launched on 1 July 2016.

A shared vision to improve outcomes for the people we support

The Selwyn Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Garry Smith, says:

"Both Selwyn and Feros have a shared vision to improve outcomes for people through technology-enabled, home-based service delivery models and to provide more holistic and coordinated wrap around care to a wider range of people who are in need. Ultimately, our priority is to work with our service partners to assist clients in remaining independent, socially connected and healthy in their own homes and so prevent or minimise their admission to hospital or residential aged care."

Forever Young exercise class in action

Jennene Buckley, Chief Executive Officer of Feros Care Ltd, says:

"There are increasing strains on the New Zealand health system, therefore new ways of supporting people so they can stay in their own homes need to be found. This joint venture will bring new technology, systems and efficiency to a market that is going through major funding changes and transformation in the service delivery model. Inviga offers coordinated, home-based restorative and re-ablement services, as well as care, support and health monitoring for people with complex care needs and chronic conditions. Inviga is now developing new service solutions in partnership with DHBs, ACC, insurers and others to fill the gaps in healthcare for New Zealanders."
