Kerridge rest home and hospital


Kerridge House is a 61-bed rest home and hospital with lovely grounds, a pleasant outlook from all rooms and a warm, friendly interior. Rooms have heating, wardrobes, bathrooms with heat lamps, showers and washbasins.

Kerridge also has two lounges and two activity lounges, and there are four pleasant outside ‘nooks’ with enclosed gardens. A library and coffee-making facilities are available within the house.

Services and facilities
  • every resident is provided with their own room, we encourage residents to make their room feel as homely as possible and bring their own furniture and belongings
  • we can supply basic furniture should this be needed
  • each room is heated and includes a wardrobe
  • a private phone may be installed in any room (rentals are charged to residents through Telecom)
  • Kerridge House and hospital has two activity lounges and four pleasant outside ‘nooks’ with enclosed gardens
  • residents enjoy making use of the library and tea and coffee making facilities
  • Kerridge House has smoke detectors and sprinklers
  • newspapers can be delivered on request
  • appointments with the hairdresser, podiatrist, physiotherapist, dentist, optician or doctor can be arranged via reception
  • shopping can be organised at the on-site mini-market
  • all meals are prepared and cooked on site, a qualified dietitian oversees the menu and special diets are catered for
  • if guests visit for lunch or dinner, they can often be catered for
  • caregivers are onsite 24/7 along with a registered nurse
  • the village chaplain is also on hand to visit and confide in
  • Selwyn Village is fortunate to have its own medical centre with a specialist gerontologist on hand
  • visiting family members and friends are always made very welcome any time, any day

As part of Selwyn Village, Kerridge residents also have access to the wider village facilities.

Activities

Our activity coordinators and diversional therapist develop a range of activities to participate in such as:

  • weekly happy hours, reading, crosswords, bingo and inter-house quizzes
  • outings and shopping trips and walks are also organised by Selwyn staff
  • special events for Mother’s Day, Easter, St Patrick’s Day, and other such occasions are celebrated
  • activities also include art, billiards, board games, bowls, bridge, cards, classical music, concerts, craft, dancing, entertainment, exercise classes, jigsaws, mah jong, movies, music, pétanque, pool,
  • sing-alongs and Wii computer games to keep you fit and sharp

We encourage our residents and their families to make suggestions should their favourite hobby or activity not be included in the current activity list.

* These rooms are charged a premium above the maximum standard daily rate under Section 152 of the Social Security Act 1964.
